In Qatar there are women with head scarves, women with veils that also cover their faces, and there are women like me who don't cover either. It's just a personal preference like anywhere else in the world. Anyways, in Iran, women have another type of face covering which when I first saw this picture, [see picture] I honestly thought this was a small minority of women because I've never seen anything like it before. Anyways, in the past month, I've seen 5 women wearing this. The shape is of a strange mustache, but it's no laughing matter at all, as it pinches their faces. I saw 3 women wearing this at the Doha Airport in the ticketing queue and I saw another 2 women wearing this at the grocery store 2 weeks ago.
This type of face covering is not part of the Qatari culture to my knowledge, so I believe that these women were Iranian, but what I'm confused about is, if this is an Iranian tradition, then why are these women subjecting themselves to this physical and mental torture in other areas of the world if not by force of their husbands? If they are not in Iran, they cannot possibly be choosing to wear this themselves; can they be? I also know that people endure pain and accept things as their way of life when it comes to traditions especially in this part of the world because they are trying to uphold cultural traditions.
I read on Newsvine awhile back about a guy who has heart trouble and he was debating on committing a felony [like robbing a bank like Micheal Scofield on Prison Break] so that he would be incarcerated and the government will give him the needed treatment for his heart. Or, since he didn't have health coverage and because he didn't have $100,000, he would just die gracefully. This is just appalling that our tax dollars and efforts have been focused on foreign oil, when we have a health crisis going on right here in our own country. I accept the cycle of life that babies are born everyday and people die everyday, but when are we going to see anything from this government besides more deficit? Health care and prescription costs are through the roof, when in other countries both are significantly less costly...what is going on?
This summer has been full of swimming, sunshine, and laughter. Our
little cousin is actually in Korea for the rest of the summer, but we
anticipate her return soon for school.

]]>About a month ago, me and Mo went to Dubai. Why do people rant and rave about Dubai? I just don't get it. Like if I traveled directly from the US to Dubai, I would literally cry because it doesn't feel like a vacation city at all. I see the commercials for Dubai tourism and it looks amazing, but after going there, I just didn't feel it. It is a commercialized city and it is a developing city, so maybe in the future, it will be cooler.
We went to the Burj Al Arab for lunch and it was okay. The hotel is really gorgeous, but the lunch wasn't that great. Honestly not worth all the money we spent. It didn't feel like anything spectacular like it should have been.
We also went to the Wild Wadi Water Park and back in the US, we go to Cedar Point which is probably one of the best, if not the best amusement park in the world...anyway, no comparison...not even close, but I'm a huge water park fan, so I still had fun at Wild Wadi and I'd go back if and when we venture to Dubai.
We also drove to Abu Dhabi and we had a great time. The city's corniche is amazing and there are parks and trees all around the city. I told my husband I felt like eating a sharwarma and I told him to stop at this place [sorry folks, I don't remember the name] right off the corniche because when there are a lot of cars crammed in front of a restaurant in the Gulf, the restaurant has to be good...and I kid you not, that was probably the best sharwarma I ever had! When we were driving back to Dubai clouds were scattered probably 25 feet above us and it looked totally amazing with the lights.

A month ago I read another story which caught Fox News making up stories. They made up an 8 part story about a Muslim boy being tormented by classmates with ham at lunchtime and in reaction to this boy's complaint, the school district put into place an "anti-ham response plan" [I mean right there that sounds like Fox lingo to me]. The superintendent is now suing Fox because he received several threats for this untrue information that Fox has thoughtlessly thrown at the public. I don't know what is sadder, that they are blatantly making up the news or the best news story they can come up is about a ham sandwich.

]]>I bought a really nice Nautica comforter this past winter, even though it's hot and humid here right now, we have the AC cranked up and in the winter, it was cold. Anyways, when I got it, I loved it so much, it felt like I was sleeping in a cloud. It was the most cuddly thing in the world, second to Kiki of course. I like to sleep a lot, so I just couldn't stop being excited and ranting and raving about it. Anyways, I took it to the dry cleaners because that is what it says on the tag and now....it's all lumpy and it looks terrible and I'm really bugged!!!
]]>This week I have hit myself on the top of my head with a door handle as I was giving Kiki water, so now I have a huge bump on my head. I was totally was seeing stars.
I also hit myself in the forehead while I was getting out of the car…yep, another bump.
I have hit my leg on the corner of our bed which has a wooden base. I have a huge bruise from that.
As I opened the closet door, the corner of said door hit my ankle bone, again more pain.
I keep tripping for no reason all the time because I’m so use to wearing heels and now that I’ve bought myself a pair of really cute flats that I love, I forgot how to walk like a normal person.
Now, I’m sitting in a wet shirt at work because as I pumped the soap in the restroom, the soap went flying all over my shirt (like everywhere) and I thought it would be a good idea to just put a small part of my shirt under the sink to wash some of it out, but then the water ended up soaking the entire front of my shirt.
I’m being abused by my own self!
Ok, in the Washington Post, they have said that John McCain has not voted or been present in the Senate for 5 weeks and has missed 43 votes. Instead of voting for a resolution for the Iraq war (a really important issue for ALL Americans), he was out campaigning in NYC.
He hasn’t been present to cast a single vote since his disappointing fundraising figures came out. Granted, McCain isn’t the only Senator missing votes due to the presidential election, he is just missing a lot more. Yes, he is campaigning for president, so I realize he is going to miss voting, but 5 weeks and counting seems ridiculous. To him, he feels that he will only show up and actually make the effort to vote, if his vote will be the determining factor.
I do have admirable respect for Senator McCain, he has served the United States for the majority of his life, but I honestly think that he will not get the Republican nomination. He didn’t get the nomination 7 years ago, so why is he expecting to get it now?!?…poor him…another person who will not admit that it’s over before it’s begun.
