We took Kiki, our dog, on a walk on the Corniche (boardwalk) and being in a Muslim country, I realize that many people are not adept into have a household pet.
We were all having a lovely time, with the exception that it was starting to get hot outside and we all got thirsty. So, as Morad went to get us some bottled water, I sat down on a bench in the shade. About a fifty feet away from me, there were some people sitting on the grass in the shade...I don’t think they were Qatari, but they were conservative Muslims because the women were fully covered. I was in the vicinity, but I was not close to them by any means.
Then, there was uproar behind me and they started to pack up their things. I thought that they were leaving. All the commotion seemed to be because of Kiki. They didn’t want Kiki in their vision or something. I was only sitting there waiting for my water, so I was only going to be there for a matter of minutes. I feel that to them, it was unacceptable that I sat there or something. I’ve never had that happen before, and it was strange the way they reacted like I had a Tyrannosaurs Rex on a leash or something.
On the bright side, a Lebanese couple thought that Kiki was so cute that they took a couple of pictures for her. And, we enjoyed the rest of our sunny day.
I loved and still do love the 80’s cartoon Jem and the Holograms. When I was six years old, watching Jem was a daily ritual. If Jem was on, I would seriously glue myself to the TV. I even had some dolls, the Rockin’ Roadster, and the dressing room that folded up and turned into a speaker. Truly Outrageous, right?
One day at school in the 1st grade, my teacher gave us the assignment “if you could be anyone else, who would you be?” I immediately wrote down Jem. My teacher insisted that I should pick a real person. I was a kid, kids idolize cartoons and I did not hesitate to reiterate that I wanted to be Jem.
So last year, I saw that Jem and the Holograms came out on DVD. I bought the First and Second Season DVD set to not only to reminisce, but because I wanted my future children to experience the series too.
Currently, Morad has a five year old cousin from Korea living here in Qatar, so when we were in the US last month, I brought Jem back with me. So, now when she comes over, she always asks to watch Jem and we watch it together. She is still learning to speak and understand English, so in the future, I think she will understand and appreciate the show even more. I think it’s totally cool that something I enjoyed so much as a child, is now enjoyed by her 20 years later.
I got a Wii about a month ago. I was on holiday at the time that my husband bought it, so I had some spare time on my hands and seriously for about 3 days straight all I did was play Wii. I haven't really been gaming since I was 15, so maybe I had some lost time to make up for...hahhaaa. Anyways, I was just wondering what your favorite games are for Wii. Here are some of the games that I've played and liked, I am also looking forward to playing Paper Mario in the hopefully near future.
